Thursday horse chat

Good morning all. Wow....nobody started the morning chat!

I need to be working to day, but think I will ride Dallas again. He did so good for me on Tuesday. Plus I have the vet coming out to look at my herd. Both Dallas and Dreamer have started coughing and I am wondering if it has anything to do with the fire a couple of months ago.

Someone is supposed to be coming over to look at a saddle I have for sale, if I sell it I can finally buy my new barrel saddle. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Guess what? Still no rain! Nice and cool today though so I'll definitely get a ride in. Took Luna for a walk down the road last night. She was such a good baby girl!

Oh! I forgot about breakfast..LOL I fed the kids and didn't eat, but we have french toast, coffee and pocosoda for everyone. Also have some strawberries left over from the shortcake we had last night.

I sold the saddle!!! WooHoo! Now it's time to order my new one!!! :P

I'm at work right now...ugh. :( But I'm going to play with my ponies after work today! I'm going to work with my gelding tonight. He's finally sound again after 3 months off for a pulled groin muscle. Now I just have to get him back into shape. He's been spoiled the past 3 months and now thinks it's his job to eat constantly. :roll:

It's been a crazy morning. First...I slept in. But then my feet hit the floor running! ***pant pant***

Not much to tell. Got a load of hay last night, but got stung by a wasp AFTER we had it all stacked. (Oh sure...it couldn't have stung me earlier...LOL!) Today the arm is red, just around the bite. Last night I could 'feel' the venom working thru the bod. I'm ok tho.
Gotta get this butt moving...see y'all later.

Hi everyone! :) So, I just read the mail...I got my bus schedule. :roll:
UGH, it comes at 7:00AM!! & plus I have to be at the bus stop like 10mins early...I guess I'll wake up at 6. LOL!
Then later today I'm going to my school's Back to School night (it's for freshmen & new students *I'm a new student*) & I'm excited to tour it. I can also get my schedule. But still, I DON'T want summer to end. :(

I had an amazing riding lesson today!

My stables likes to put on themes now and again for the week's lessons. This week's theme was jumping, and my best friend warned me I might be doing it today. I've had one lesson ages ago when I was introduced to jump position and went over some poles and one tiny cross rail. I've had another lesson on lower leg strength and jump position.

Anyway, waiting for my lesson to start I was watching from the stands, and there was a four year old girl with bright pink wellies (her mum agreed I should get a pair to match my jods), riding one of the ponies over little poles. She was absolutely adorable.

For my lesson, I rode a new horse, Mr Darcy. I had him in my third lesson (today was my twelfth), but Charlie Brown since then. I spent the first few minutes getting used to him and his gaits, and then my instructor, Katie, had me riding in jump position over a course of four poles. My lower leg felt much firmer on Darcy, and he had a mane I could hold onto :) He does like to cut corners, though, and stray off the track, so I had to keep a firmer contact on my outside rein and use my inside leg more.

Katie then put one of the poles up into a low cross rail (about 40cm) and had me jump it going large. Then I jumped that and the rest of the poles. Then the last pole became a jump, and finally, all four were jumps! It was so great. While there were still some poles, he didn't really have enough energy, but once we were jumping the whole course he was raring to go. He even broke into a canter between two of them, but I managed to get him back into a trot and hold him there. When I finished the course, Katie said, "You're grinning from ear to ear!" and I was. It was just so, so much fun!

Darcy is huge as well - Charlie's pretty big (15.2, 15.3hh) but Darcy is an inch or two taller and built on a much larger scale. His head is in a different time zone from my hands! His shoulder is bigger than my torso.

So I've had an amazing day! And when I took Darcy back to his stall, he gave me a nuzzle. He has such a soft nose, and it's always nice to get a kiss from Mr Darcy.

That is so great!!!isnt it just the most fun? I am too old to try jumping now but always wanted to just looks like a blast-i will live vicariously through you brave younguns
