We're supposed to get weather today/night and a cold front. So we decided to ride Goldie for a little while, just in the arena. OMYGOODNESS, she was a mess! She didn't do anything ugly but she was evading the bit, ducking behind it, and flipping her head and doing the whole emotional sweating/poo thing. We had a good east wind blowing and she was just working herself up into a righteous little wall eyed fit. So, we put the surcingle and side reins on her, and OH GOSH, guess what? She knew how to tip her nose to the inside and figured out that staying quiet would give her some relief....Quit all that emotional nonsense too. We worked her enough that she was happy to take a break. I think next ride won't be quite so silly.
Then we went out to work with the fillies. Well, that went over like a lead balloon. Unbeknownst to us, a neighbor's horses (different from the last pair that got out) had gotten out and were on the next neighbor's property. Oh my! Such running around, tails in the air and hollering you've never seen. They got the foals all upset and so we had to cut that little session short too, before someone got hurt. They were an absolute pair of nutters this afternoon. SO, tomorrow has a workout session for a pair of foaldies in store! AWAY from all the distractions. Silly creatures!:-o:gallop:
