Today I went to a local Ranch...

So, today I worked up the courage, got dressed, and walked on the trail to the local Horse Ranch. I talked to a woman there and she let me feed the horses (so amazing!). I asked her if I could come help over the summer, and in turn, get to try riding one. She said yes, but she's waiting until the school year lets out which is like in 2 weeks for me. But I am SO excited! I met some lovely horses while there. One in particular, a young white male, unsure of the breed, he came up to the fence (putting his huge horsey head over the top to see me) and I let him smell my hand, and he moved his head into my hand, and let me pet him. That made my heart melt, horses are just so amazing. I HAD to share this news with the forum, and people who have seen me post lately .

    Thanks for looking!

There is no better place to learn and get practical experience than a good ranch.

Have fun, learn everything you can, and above all, always be safe.

The lady (owner) told me which ranks each horse had, kind of like in a Wolf pack. So I know who to watch out for, and be careful around.

Not sure if my diagnosis is correct...but one of the mares there, I noticed she was walking a bit slouchy, and she kept leaning against one of the fences, and even bit into the wood as if it was food. Is this a sign of cribbing?

I just got back from seeing the horses about 2 hours ago. I spent a good 4 hours with them. GORGEOUS horses! 2 Mares there, I kept going back to see and pet, they love me. I brought fresh carrots and sliced apples for them, and they were like "I like you!" lol. Their names are Hope & Smudge. Both beautiful. Hope has a problem in her front-right foot, and she can only get medication. It's either that, or no horse. I would hate to see her be put down, she is so lovely. I will cry if she has to be silenced. But all in all, I have made a bond with the 2 lovely horses.

Also, when I was petting Hope, she kept resting her head against my chest/shoulder, as if to say "We're friends now". I loved it, and I love her. Great horse :).
