Turnout Rug (Blanket) repair
Of late, my filly has been a rug (blanket) murderer! I've never had a horse that rips its rugs before, and even Red didn't use to, until the past, say, three weeks. She's completely torn a Med weight, and the stuffing has come out, and has put little nicks/punctures in another med and a heavy too.
There is no way I can afford to buy new ones. How easy (if at all) are they to repair. I consider myself pretty nifty with a needle and thread (it's about the only domestic Goddess role I actually excel at!) but I figure normal cotton thread would allow water in, the same with the punctures where the needle enters the fabric.
Is there any kind of glue that works particularly well, or is even designed to repair it. OR a sealant (like mastic, but horse friendly) that I can cover my stitches in?
Or? Am I just going to have to chuck them out and buy her a new one with a higher denier?
Gah! Horses. are. so. ****. expensive. It's like they want me to go bankrupt! Hehe
