wanting 2 things at once isnt easy

So let's start off, I own a great mare who is 10 years old. And a 2 year old filly. I've owned my mare for 8 years, I love this mare, I've never been so attached to another horse. Owned the filly since february of this year. My mare is a good little barrel horse, she does her job well and is usually in the 2nd division sometimes 3rd. In a small pen, she can be 1st division. But she's never going to be a first division horse consistently. But she's finished and seasoned. And my filly is great I love her, though she's stubborn and has a mean streak. But she's very smart, and willing. All she needs is broke, which im waiting to do. And in a few more years she'll be running too. Then there's this great 4 year old colt id love to buy, he's started on barrels, beautiful boy, great horse with alot of potential. I've outgrown my mare riding wise, I know she's holding me back. But I can't part with her, I get choked up just thinking about it. My filly not worth as much as colt, doubt I could sell her for that much considering the market. Even if she is a calm level headed 2 year old that's hardly phased by anything and has good bloodlines. I hate to give up on her too, she's not even broke so I have no idea what she'll turn out to be. But Im tired of not being competitive, tired of being outran by people who've only been in it for a year with better horses. I wish I could have the colt, but just a dream. Well now you've read my little pity party. Just had to get it out somehow. For the past month I've been driven crazy thinking about all this...*sigh*
