Hi. I'm posting here because members of The Horse Forum enjoyed our last documentary project: "On the Muscle: Portrait of a Thoroughbred Racing Stable."
Another similar-style doc is in the works, this time about the female Escaramuzas Charras in the Mexican Rodeo. Coming out of an underappreciated, centuries-old riding tradition, these girls perform their precision horse ballets while riding sidesaddle, wearing multiple layers of traditional costume, and still manage to kick butt on their reining horses. The doc focuses on Las Azaleas of California, the California and U.S. Champion team, and their journey to prove themselves in Mexico.
I invite you all to check out the teaser and read about our "crowdfunding" campaign on the website Kickstarter.com-- Escaramuza: Riding from the Heart (a feature documentary) by Robin Rosenthal & Bill Yahraus — Kickstarter
There are some fantastic horse-related rewards for pledges (it works kind of like a public radio fund drive), including some out-of-print books by renowned equine photog Robert Vavra. All pledges go through a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the International Documentary Association.
So please follow the link, watch the teaser, pledge if you can, and pass the link on to your other lists and groups if you like what you see.
Many thanks for your help!
