We found an interesting surprise (x-rays)

When I got my gelding, we were told he had a slab fracture on one of his knees but no one seemed to know which one. He raced on it afterwards and has never been uncomfortable or lame because of it, so I haven't really worried about it. However, my vet has been bothered by it for months, so yesterday she took some x rays for fun.

We bet that it was the R knee. When the image came up, we did find a tiny bone chip and were like, okay...not a big deal. He doesn't seem to need surgery.
Then we saw the L knee...oh boy. The accessory carpal bone is pretty well shattered!
We also found some minor arthritis, which isn't surprising since he raced until he was 7 and is 9 now.

He's perfectly fine, it was just shocking! I have to keep an eye on it, especially as he gets older. That being said, he's been jumping and has held up well!
:happydance:
