coping with heat

We moved to the US from the UK with horses & dogs and still not used to the heat here. Its been a lot hotter in CT this year than previous and I'm sick of sweating. We get up really early to do heavy work and ride either early or late when its cooled off which then leaves me bored all day
I don't have run in sheds so my horses come in during the worst heat, we have fans in the barn and they get hosed off to cool them down. Its not so bad now but they are into the routine and expect to come in at the same time every day, they hate the flies and bugs so doesn't bother me that they do stand in, I only have 4 so not a lot of work

Sheesh! You just can't satisfy some people

And in a similar vein: hereabouts we're getting the first good storm of the winter, after 3 months that left the Sierra snowpack at record low 20% of average levels - and the idiotic weather reporter has the nerve to describe it as "bad weather".
