Yesterday at my lesson, I was moaning to my instructor about my crap luck with Tucker, the black gelding I purchased a few weeks ago, that the owner bought back (long annoying story). And I had also shown her a few prospects I was looking at to potentially purchase, which she advised me against after seeing video's...Same video's I posted here, and the same advice I received here..(bad stifled TB, and the buckskin WB mare...)
Anyways, after my lesson was up, she said she wanted to talk to me about something. Sure. She said, "I would be willing to sell you Sam..(one of her personal horses) at your price range, and let you board him here if you want. Just THINK about it, he isn't for sale, but you two are an excellent match and I would sell him to you." My mouth almost fell open. Sam is AMAZING and I adore him. I have ridden him several times and know him well...nothing could have made me happier than this opportunity. She kept saying to me "Just think about it, I don't want you to feel obligated..." yeah right, I was almost doing cartwheels across the barn as she was speaking. So I came home and talked to my husband last night, and he agreed it was an awesome opportunity...SO TODAY I BOUGHT HIM!
He is AMAZING and I am ECSTATIC! Talk about an emotional roller coaster, but I officially have the bill of sale, his papers, his passport, xrays EVERYTHING. Normally her barn is WAY out of my price range for board..get this...she is letting me board him there ("if I want", her words..I would never dream of turning her down) for a fraction of her normal fees. Her facility is incredible. And now I can take my lessons on him, instead of one of her school horses which will also reduce my weekly lesson by $20 a session!
I am so fortunate and grateful to have such an amazing mentor and teacher. What a humbling opportunity/gift.
