I called the BMV, was sent to the title bureau, then to the license agency, then to the driver's exam station, and finally to the local PD. They checked with several people and finally confirmed that it is legal for a licensed driver to tow, regardless of age. Thanks, guys!

I was 16 when I started hauling a trailer. I took my horse to lessons once a week.

Just wanted to thank you all for the advice. I practiced yesterday around town (sans cargo) and brought my eventer to a mini trial today with no problems. Much easier than I expected!

Thanks again.

I'm 16 (17 this fall) and I haul the truck and trailer. I will haul my horse out to places to trail ride, show, etc....I love hauling!

good job! and kudos to you for going about it in a mature manner. I started hauling trailers of all description (horse, stock, flatbed, boat, and campers), before I could legally drive. Living in the boonies made that a necessity in some cases and a convenience in others.

I started as soon as I got my license. But I have also had to ride in the trailer before.... gives you a very good idea of how hauling feels.

As soon as I got my licence I was towing my horses around. Although I had grown up driving pretty much every piece of machinery we owned around the farm.

I drove trucks, cars and farm equipment since I was 6 on back country roads/fields. When I turned 15 I learned to pull a regular trailer (non horse trailer) and then when I was 'legal' I learned to pull a trailer with and without a horse. Your never to old too learn! Good luck and be safe!
