What do you do with your old horse shoes?

The other day I was talking to my mom about some ideas I had for some old horse shoes I brought home from the barn. She asked what they normally do with the old shoes if I don't take them. She was suprised they just throw them out. My family recycles everything, including scrap metal, so my mom suggested I continue to bring the shoes home so we can recycle them. It's a great idea, especially considering how much metal is getting tossed out every time they throw the shoes out. So I was wondering, do you guys just throw old shoes out? Does anyone recycle them?

I use them for decoration. I used one as a stencil one time to make a horseshoe border around my room.

We usually use them for halter/bridle hangers too.

We make them hangers in the barn, mostly.

But, I always keep at least one shoe from every horse I have, paint it however I wish with the horse's name on it somewhere, and hang it on my wall.

My boss just puts them in a pile haha. Me personally I make door knockers out of the old shoes and my old spurs.

I make halter and bridle hangers, either taking one shoe and bending it in half, screwing one branch to the wall and letting the other make the hook, or take two shoes, cut one in half and weld the cut end to the toe of the whole shoe.

I'd like to try making shelf brackets sometime - take two shoes and weld the branches heel to heel on a 45 degree angle.

I also have a single shoe hanging on each stall door. Open end up, to catch the luck, of course.
