Talking What are everyones Horsey New years resolutions for 2012?!?!

I don't know if there is already a thread started on this but am trying to kill time before taking the car out to head up to mountains ad ski for the first time this year :)

Here are mine:

1. To get Oliver back in tip top shape and 100% healthy!
2. Get new breeches to ride in...no more jeans, my Pessoa saddle deserves better! BAD ME!
3. Get Oliver out to new places and start showing him at small local shows
4. Get a Dressage saddle?
5. Get flying lead changes and jump a little higher :)
6. Get our butts out on a few trail rides and enjoy life!
7. Get my boyfriend of 2 years now on a freaking horse! (he has only been begging for most of the 2 years)
8. Keep my eyes, ears and bran open to as much more learning in the horsey world as possible!
9. MAKE MT MOM WATCH ME RIDE haha yeah freaking right!!!
10. Prove to my non believer horsey friends who think they are smarter then anyone and know whats best for horses (ha..no) that I CAN TO train my 5 year old sport horse, be a working student (3 days a week) and be a full time college student and be very successful at both :) (OH AND HAVE A PART TIME JOB that's NON HORSEY TO HELP PAY FOR Y HORSE) What about that!? HA I feel like superwoman with a horse!

SO go ahead and list what your 2012 New Year resolutions are.....HERE!

1) To be able to do a whole 1 hour workout with no stirrups (w,t,c including serpentines, posting trot, etc)
2) to ge my own weight off and be a more fit rider
3) to be more patient with Cinny
4) to not push him through levels at shows no matter what anyone else says I should do.
5) Flying lead changes by Jan 2013 (we do a change through trot perfectly now)
6) build more topline
7) build more balance

I think that's it for now.

Love this thread! I hadn't even thought about this before...

1. Get a NICE used brand name every day saddle!
2. Keep my horse in shape
3. Get into a normal running routine to stay in shape for riding (I'm sort of on and off haha)
4. Get my horse more automatic for newer riders
5. Get his flying lead changes to be automatic
6. Start riding different horses to work on my own horsemanship
7. Apply for the equestrian team at LCCC, and any riding scholarships possible
8. Teach my horse the basics of gaming for the girl leasing my horse to do fun days
9. Buy a truck to haul to shows with!! (Hopefully in spring! I'm saving up )
10. To end the year as a better rider and horse person with more experiences both good and bad (but hopefully not too bad )

1. Get denny and bailey in shape
2. Start going to endurance rides and meet other people and horses plus learn new things
3. Get my stirrup less riding again in all gaits
4. Get a new truck - my current one will not last to much longer
5. Work on subtle cues
6. Need to get breeches even though I ride western... :)

Lots more just can't think of them

1) Work with my horses more consisently
a) ride Chief more
b) work with Scout more so I can get him ready for the saddle
2) I need to concentrate on my weight and my fitness -I've kinda blown my diet over the holidays but don't we all
3) I would like to take Chief out on a small trail ride, nothing to major maybe a small hill to climb, a small creek to cross, a log to walk over, maybe some woods to walk through that kind thing - he's never been anywhere but where's he's at now.
4) I would like to gain more confidence and learn how to ride better make sure my leg cues are correct etc...
5) before next winter I would like to be riding Scout.

My resolutions are:

1) to find a solution to Beau's food aggression with horses problem

2) to NOT buy any more horse blankets!!! 5 per horse is ENOUGH!

3)to FORCE them to eat the good quality orchard grass hay sitting in the hay room unused, since they refuse anything other than PURE timothy. Even a Timothy/orchard grass mix will not pass their approval.

4) to spoil our horses more....we don't do it nearly enough.

I would just ride at different parks for 2012- Use the truck and trailer more- take off the holiday weight I have put on in 2011

1) Get new body clippers, and successfully clip Max without any bruises
2) Compete at even more shows!
3) Get Rudy's western pleasure lope down!
4) Barrel race!
5) Go to Wyoming and trail ride with Deedee
6) Teach more lessons
7) Win the state 4-H
8) Make the "Dream Team"
9) Get a new horse?
10) Go completely tackless with Rudy

Great thread idea!

-Find the perfect first show mount for my daughter, she rides my old farts now but they are getting up there in age, so something over 10 but under 20 with lots of miles and youth points, preferably a mare that's not a plain jane sorrel.
-Get a new horse trailer! Looking at one next Friday :)
-Haul Merit to a few shows just to get him exposed
-Start Pella under saddle next fall
-Take some dressage lessons for myself to see if old dogs really can learn new tricks
-convince the parents of my youngest student to let her show at state (she is past ready but they are nervous nellies) then see her win supreme showman ;)
-Take Missy to a few jumper shows, relive days of my youth
-Take my old man to one show for giggles, he will be 30 this year and it would be a fun way to celebrate his birthday and for him to show that he's still got it.
-Keep Woodstock sound and get him finished - that's the big one and sadly the least likely.
