What height horse is right for a tall person?

What height horse is right for a tall person to not look like a jockey on? It probably sounds like a dumb question but I'm curious.
I'm about 5'8". I really want an Arab, but looking back, my old Arab was tiny (I don't really remember if I ever measured her). Am I just to tall to have an arab be a good fit?

Deffiantely not there are some fairly big arabs nowadays. Where I ride we have one who is very close if not at 16h and the baby we have out there is most likely going to be just as big she's already about 13.3 at just over a year I believe she will be 2 in march. I'm 5'5 and I ride a 14.1-2 arabian gelding and look fine on him.So you might shoot for maybe the 15h range

It really isn't the height-it is how the barrel takes up leg. Altho-I know reining trainers whose legs almost drag on the ground on some of the horses they ride.....I think it is how comfortable you are with how it looks.

I'm almost 5'7 and I like horses that are 16.3-ish. That's just me, I like big horses. It really depends on how built they are. If they have a big barrel that makes up for a lot.

Im 5"7' and my arabs are 13.3hh & 14.2hh & I don't look that silly on them ;) The general rule is withers to your shoulder height.

I thought it was withers to top of your head?

I probably shouldn't post this because you are asking a specific question...but I just gotta . I would not pass up on a really good horse, no matter his size. As long as the horse has no problem carrying you...the heck with what people think. In my area, there are so many people willing to pass a horse off to you no matter your riding level or experience. When you actually find a good one, it is very much like striking gold.

My sister has a guy that is 14.2 hands. My nephew rode him the other day with nothing but a halter and lead rope (made into makeshift reins). The funny thing is, most people look fine on him...it's his build.

I'm 5'9" and my mare is 14.1 and I don't look too ridiculous on her. However, I have a very long torso/neck/head and shorter legs (really, I have the leg length of someone who's about 5'2") and Lacey, my mare (Arab) is rather wide.
Even riding western with properly long stirrups, my feet are only about an inch below her belly line.
So, in all, it really depends on how you're built and how the horse is built but I definitely wouldn't say that it's a foregone conclusion that you can't have an Arab becuase of your height.
