Well , I am worried about getting something in writing just because she is stating how this was the worst mistake she ever made and she is wanting him back...so I went ahead and deleted her from my group and my friends list . I have printed off all the emails, and messages , and have put them in the folder she gave me with his health records and what not. I'm not going to lie though , her wanting him back and not having this bill of sale is starting to worry me a tad !

Do you have brand inspections were you live if so get one on him and that can serve as ownership papers in most states. Let the brand inspector see the emails that says she gave him to you and that should be good enough.

None of my horses are branded and I don't believe we have inspections ..may be another option to look into ...in order for her to get him though , wouldn't she have to know where I live and take me to civil court ?She can't just come on private property and take him I don't think ??

Well, its been done before, tho not legally but has been done. If that were to happen then you would have a hard time getting him back from her. So best to not let her know where you are!!! This all really sucks and I feel for you. Good luck and keep us posted. Oh and where are the pictures!!!!!!????????????????

I once bought a horse complete with bill of sale, registration papers, and an honest handshake. It was a done deal. Several months later, the person that had sold the horse to the person that I bought her from started bothering me. She wanted me to sell her the horse at the price that she had sold it for ($700). When she sold the horse, it had been starved out. The guy fattened the horse up and I paid $1200 for her, which was a fair deal for this particular horse.

It got to be quite a pain. She stalked, harassed, and even threatened to steal the horse. Then she suddenly lost interest. It was a major hassle. I hope that this person also loses interest.

I doubt you can make a legally binding contract with someone under 18 so she may be able to take horseback anyway so I would be talking with her parents not her .

Well , thankfully I never told her where I live , she lives in NC and I live in TN . I also know that she doesn't have a trailer or a truck to pull one ...but with this being private property all I think I would have to do is call the law . My gates to the horses are locked so she couldn't get in there if she wanted to and the hubby and I have been talking about getting an automatic gate at the front of our driveway cause I am paranoid , he works 3rds and I am home with the kids alone ...we've been talking about this for months though . I have only had Camanche for almost 2 weeks ...He is filthy now , been rolling in the mud !Grrrr...lol . Here are some pics !
The only reason she could give me as to why he was free was because he was pasture sour , barn sour , and said when you smacked him on the butt he would buck (what she described was more like a pitch)...He is 9 years old and is beautiful...She told me he was a QH which I have found out is wrong ..so he is my mystery man !

I hope that you don't find out that there was good reason that he was free.
