Thats why my boyfriend won't ride... he does stunts on his motorcycle but won't ride a horse... Crazy. I wish she was more realistic about horses, but thats why she cannot ride my horse. I guess I could be mean and let her ride and fall off & just hope that she doesn't get injured badly, but on the other end I've done SO much work getting him to trust his rider and not just flip out that I worry about undoing it by letting somebody ride him that doesn't have the skills to deal with him when he gets scared. Oh well... hmm.. I feel like I'm hijacking this thread.. Sorry . I've given you my 2 cents... or 10 , so I will stop now!

You're not hijacking the thread... I enjoy reading about others experiences as well as getting advice, lol.

Shanna just emailed me asking if she could use her saddle...

I had to tell her 'no' because her saddle is fit for her huge 16.1 hand STOCKY Appendix Quarterhorse mare and her other saddle is fit for her teeny 14.1 hand SLIM mutt gelding... My Gypsie isn't stocky, but she isn't slim either and she has high withers... neither of her saddles comes close to fitting my girl... Lol.

Thats great.. Like my cousin. She rode out in Wyoming for a couple of years and bought a saddle. Well this saddle was used on a Clyde X and apparently fit him just fine. My cousin wants to put it on Soda... I was like "nope, sorry, I have a saddle that fits him, if you wanna ride you're gonna have to fit into it." She assumed because it was a QH saddle it would fit him. I had to explain that he was a different type of QH than she was used to... hehe it was pretty good. At least I'm older now and they're actually my horses, so I finally get control of what happens.

Lol. Yeah... I don't see why she didn't realize that her saddles wouldn't fit Gypsie... lol... I just told her that since I have two western saddles, she's going to ride in Gypsie's saddle... because none of the others wil fit her.

Argh I know, I get so frustrated by epople who think that any saddle will fit any horse... Thats what gave my boy huge white patches on either side of hsi wither and a huge aversion to a saddle sitting too far forward (i.e. trying to buck you off!!)

I know... my mare has white spots from her old saddle that was synthetic and I rode her in it throughout her pregnancy and it stretched out... I was SO glad when another half-wild horse broke it beyond repair for me so I could have a good excuse to get another that actually 'fit' her. Luckily, she isn't aggressive or cinchy or anything when it comes to saddling.
