Mine would have to be Into the west because that was the first time I saw A GYPSY VANNER! Plus its such a great story about the gypsies. Love the kids great little actors. Anyone seem it?
i love into the wet too!!! but i really loved international velvet! what a story. it makes me want to ride everyday and all day!!! oh did i mention....jump everything in sight!
Tonka - - an old disney flick about a young indian who captures a wild horse and keeps him for himself...the horse went on to be the lone survivor of the battle of little big horn - the US Army recognized him as Commanche.
my all time fav is the black stallion.....did you know that were the black was cought by henry and brought to that old barn was turn down shortly after that movie to make way to enlarge the toronto air port!!!
The Man From Snowy River...incredible stunt work, good looking horses, amazing scenery. I really liked The Silver Stallion, too though. Another Aussie set movie. hehe
When I was a kid my all time favorite was Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken. I haven't seen it in forever..I was thinking about it a few weeks ago though and I'd like to see it. I'll have to find it somewhere! And I liked The Man From Snowy River but not as much as Wild Hearts..I watched that movie at least 100 times..no exaggeration.
But now I'd have to say The Horse Whisperer or Hidalgo - LOVE that movie!

Right on! Wild Hearts That Can't Be Broken is an amazing movie! I have to disagree though, The Man From Snowy River beats all. Hidalgo was pretty good, Viggo Mortenson can sure ride.
If we are talking Horse Moments in movies, then the ultimate is in the movie Cat Ballou when a drunk Lee Marvin on his horse are both leaning against a wall to stay up. Photos from Cat Ballou

I like "the Black Stallion"..maybe cause I loved that series of books so much as a kid.
I really like alot of the horse movies mentioned but if they have sad endings I can't watch them again.
I love many western movies mainly because of the horses and the beautiful western scenery
I am forgetting about:
The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit (Disney)
Misty of Chincoteague (not sure)
Justin Morgan Had a Horse (Disney)
The Littlest Horse Thieves (Disney)
I'm not sure what my all time favorite was... but I DO like National Velvet...
