So glad someone started this thread!

Sounds like chosen by a Horse needs to be the next book on my list!

As a kid I read ALL the Black Stallon books! Had the Breyer models to go with them!!

I'm newly back into horses, so I recently picked up Think Like A Horse, by Cherry Hill. It was a great refresher and updated me on things I didn't know 20 years ago!!

The beat of my heart will always resemble the cadence of my horse.

I never agree with everything I read but this guy has some clever ideas.
I am not sure how commercialized he has become today.
A few of his ideas have helped me at some point in time.

For non-fiction, I just read The Faraway Horses. It's basically Buck Brannaman's life story, and is it ever amazing.
Stole the words out of my mouth..! Haven't read The Perfect Distance, but I totally agree with you on Blaze of Glory and The Faraway Horses.

And, the Dressage Chronicles are good to!

Thanks for the tip on the Dressage Chronicles! I'll add that to my list. Looks like I'm going to have to read Chosen by a Horse too, I read the Amazon reviews a while back and it sounded too depressing so I skipped it, but it seems like a lot of people like it.

A lot of the books in this discussion are kids' books (although great ones), so it's nice to find suggestions for some more adult reading. I can't wait for the 3rd book in the Blaze series!!!

As as "adult" getting back into horses, I have to say "Falling for Eli" absolutely captured the feelings I was having as I went through the process of recapturing that dream of childhood.

And I still enjoy reading the Young Person's Fiction horse books. I've just finished up the 3 "A Circuit" books.

Also, oldie but goodies "Fly-By-Night" and "The Team" by K.M. Peyton. "The Crumb", "The Monday Horses" and "Can I get there by Candlelight" by Jean Slaughter Doty are all books that I've read over and over.

I exhausted all of the "Pony Books" in our library...now with Amazon there's a never ending supply of them!

Please, keep posting your favorites!

I'm in love with Maggie Stiefvater's The Scorpio Races...Amazing book!

I'm actually re-reading the Thoroughbred series as an adult up through 20. I love them just as much as I remember.
