Talking What are YOUR summer plans?

I thought it would be fun if we all shred our plans we have made with your horses, friends, family and trainers for summer of 2013 They may be just simple ideas or dreams right now or you may have already sent in show forms, clinic checks, or are doing so right now

What are your summer goals with your horse/s?

Will you be doing a lot of traveling?

Is it your first year showing?

First year owning a horse?

No matter how big or small it is lets hear it!

This forum has so many wonderful people who always cheer each other on in goals we have been talking about that mean a lot. These people are so so great at keeping it encouraging through out the rough spells. You guys are a distant family to me who I turn to for a lot of support as my family does not fully understand my horsey life and goals and mind set nor really come out to watch me ride but once a year

If you have plans for a trip, send us links to the places your going!
If you have a goal or two you have already met lets see pictures and hear all about it!

I will tell you my stuff in a post next
Can't wait to hear everyone's plans and ideas and dreams!

So my summer plan with Baby O (Ollie) is to just get him out and about, that will go into this fall as well!

Right now we are preping for our first little island schooling show. Couldn't be more low key and yet just enough to help him start to see the hustle and bustle and colorful things at shows! So that show is this Saturday, the 18th.

Next up is our first 2 day dressage clinic of the season with our wonderful trainer who flies up from Cali. We always get so much done and make such big strides of improvement in the fallowing weeks! Very encouraging!! Thatis on June 5th and 6th!!

Then it's little Ollie's first try at a couple dressage tests!!! On June 9th its our local 4H show weekend and Sunday is the dressage day! Very much looking forward to that since it fallows the same week as our 2 day clinic! This will be a big test on my baby boy!

As for July....no plans yet. The idea of maybe schooling him XC with a friend and our trainer so that could be very....entertaining as I like to say hehe

I am going to try to help Mudpie's suspensory ligament heal, and also hope fervently that his digital sesamoidean ligaments are not messed up as well. I am also going on a mad hunt for a decent farrier, and get a couple more ultrasounds for Mudpie!

:) That's about it. Here, have a picture of sleepy Mudpie!

My ideal plans, or the more likely to happen plans, lol.

-get my cast off, and go riding the same day
-I would like to get another horse finally
-take daughter to 3-4 lessons
-take my daughter to at least 2 shows before the county fair
-re-landscape the front yard and fix the driveway
- go camping at least 4 times
-convince my parents to put in an arena

What's probably going to happen:
-get my cast of and re-injure it trying to get on the horse
-keep looking for a horse since I re-injured the ankle
-try to sweet talk trainer into making a house call at least once.
-secretly despise husband because he never got around to fixing the trailer hitch
-glare at the front yard & driveway, because I won't be able to fix it this year
-keep hoping we can go camping at least once
-secretly put up a temporary arena. At least until my dad notices it & takes it down.

Ahhh, life. Never a dull moment, lol

What are your summer goals with your horse/s?
For my mare: Compete in some playdays and local rodeos and place high! We've been training all fall and winter and she's been doing very well in the arena at our barn so high hopes for this season in barrel racing!

For my 2yr old filly: Helping her get over her fear of water. She panics at the sight of it, I'm not sure why but I'm going to work with her with that and hopefully we can over come it!

Will you be doing a lot of traveling?
Just back home to Missouri in July for a week and taking my girls! My mare Beebe is from there and she gets to see all of her old pasture mates and my filly will get to meet my family up there so I'm looking forward to that!

Is it your first year showing?
Yes and No, My first time showing in Texas, I did in Missouri. It will be the first time in 3yrs I've been to a rodeo/playday, so hoping I'm as successful here as I was back home.

First year owning a horse?
Nope.

Well...I'll only have 28 days of "summer" and only 2 weeks of that will be with my horses.

So my summer plans are to ride EVERY day lol.

Lots of trails, hopefully some sorting and if I'm lucky well have a soccer game.

Nothing big though. My kids have basically been on pasture for 3 yrs so don't wanna kill them

I plan on signing up for some western riding lessons at a new barn. I haven't been on a horse (let alone near one) for about five years now and that needs to change as I'm slowing going insane!

I would love to enter a few shows but I'm mostly looking forward to going on lots and lots of trail rides.

Ride, ride, and ride some more. I hope to go on a few more hacks this year and trailer out more often.

Horsey plans:

Lots of clinics for Walterbb and me. Light riding to recondition and ensure he is stretching those contracted tendons. Xray in August to see how them knees are! Hopefully they will be closed...

Joey is coming home soon, so I will be doing a lot of work with him. Leading, touching, halter fitting. Try to get out to a couple shows. I am not showing Walter until maybe October, so Joey will be my play thing!

For me..

Work :( I am looking for a new job. August long I am planning on going to Nova Scotia with my parents to visit my dads side of the famjam. Haven't been out in 12 years, so it will be fun. Most travelling besides that will be just around the province to little shows with my cousin.

Also, decide where I will be living in the fall if my boyfriend get accepted to college. Eek! I don't know if I want to move to Ontario :(
