I am searching for a place to move to that is :
1. An equestrian area
2. has good trails
3. affordable
4.not too far from a major airport
5. not too cold
I live in NJ now and it is just to expensive to stay. I would really like property to have horses on but not sure if I would. (just want the option).
I hope this will bring me lots of results. I have been researching many areas and now I need to actually visit them.
I have 1 horse now and board him 1hr from my home which makes my time with him less than I would like.
Well, GA and FL or TN or KY (I think the Monticello area has cheapish land) or most places in the South are good equestrian areas and aren't cold all the time like NJ. They (except for FL) have good hilly trails.
Every place is different. I believe that horses can live anywhere, because any state or country is going to have enough land for them to live comfortably. You just have to find the right places. If you want warm weather, Florida, California and Hawaii are the top three. Below them are Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico, but it does snow sometimes in Nevada.
Personally my favorite place to own horses is in northeastern PA. It snows there and it can get to below twenty, but it's got beautiful land and it is affordable and roomy.

I live in Southeastern PA and find that pricing is pretty reasonable. There are tons of facilities here in Chester County... Some roomier than others. BEAUTIFUL land and great trails. Lots of experienced horse-people and many different show circuits...
I hate to be biased, but you can't find more of a horse friendly area than Kentucky. We do have Keeneland, Church Hill Downs (the Derby), the Kentucky Horse Park, the World Equestrian Games, Calumet Farms & and all the other huge TB farms, as well as a recent influx of many other major breeding facilities due to the KEEP program. We also have Rood & Riddle Vet Clinic and so many other horse opportunities that I could never mention them all...
Our client is also very temperate with great seasons and we have the Louisville, Lexington, & Nashville area airports...
Between Tampa and Brooksville, FL. You have the Tampa airport, the Tampa Fairgrounds with the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center, not too far to drive to Ocala.
Ocala has shows, Sumter Equestrian Center and Ocala National Forest and don't forget Cross Florida Greenway.
There is also Orlando which is close to Clarcona Horse Park, Green Swamp, Lake Louisa State Park and the Orlando Airport.
There are trails at Plant City, Dover, Lithia Pinecrest and you have Tillis Hill in Brooksville. Here is a trail list - Central Fl section includes Tampa & Brooksville
And we have 2 days of winter Bush Gardens, Lowry Park Zoo, Sea World, Disney, Universal Studios, SilverSpurs Rodeo, Medieval Times, Arabian Nights - why did I ever leave!!
