Who clips their horses in summer?

I'm seriously considering doing a full body clip on my Arab. My main reasons:

*He is grey and stains very easily...I'd like to minimize that.
*He keeps a fairly long coat even in summer.
*He is often sweated up before we even start working just because it's so hot
*I think it looks neater and I'm planning to do some local shows with him this summer.

So...for those that clip in summer have you had any problem with the horse growing in a normal winter coat? How often do you have to re-clip in summer? Does it actually help with the staining on greys?

    Thanks!

Going to be honest, the only thing that I have ever summer clipped was a donkey. He always kept a long coat and just looked miserable so I would clip him when there was no chance of it turning cool. It never changed the way his winter coat grew back in.
