I know I SHOULD ride. My horses need for me to ride, but I just don't have the energy lately. By the time I get done with the stuff I HAVE to do, like cleaning stalls, throwing hay, filling water buckets, all I want to do is go back inside and sit down. My horses are all so out of shape and I am too. I blame the mud, I absolutely hate dealing with the mud and that's all we've had all winter. But even on nice days I just can't get myself moving to go do it. The only riding I've gotten done is the riding I'm being paid to do at a client's barn. So then I feel guilty for not riding my own, and gee, now I'm totally blah again. :(

I've been terrible this winter. It gets up in the 50s for a week which is fine for Indiana, I can wear a sweat shirt. Then next week it's in the high 20s and I've gotten used to it being warmer. If it would just stay consistent I'd be fine! :( I can't deal with it changing as much as it has this winter.

Is it really a pity-party or just the end of winter doldrums? This is a crappy time of year for most people. Even here, where we can ride year round, it's been cold and wet and I'm desperately waiting for daylight savings time to arrive! We still ride, but it's not as fun if you have to be bundled up.

Thanks goodness February is ending (The ONLY thing good about February is Valentine's Day and I think it's there just 'cause it's such a puky month!!!) and Daylight Savings Time and Spring are arriving. Things will get better.

And then we can start complaining about the heat!!! ROFLMAO

I really do WANT to ride, but I just can't! I don't ride unless it's 32* or warmer, just because it's hard on their lungs, especially since Cowboy has breathing problems. But it's only met that criteria a few times this winter, and I'm about to die wanting to ride so bad o.o

Omg, I hope I do not complain about the heat this year, but I know I will!
Anywayyyyyyyyyyyyy, I did it! I got my kick in the pants! A couple of the "young girls" came out that ride my f.i..l.'s horses, (one is a second cousin of my husband) and I saw them go by and by golly if that was not a kick in my ***. So I got myself out there and rode! Was a good ride, I didn't get the fight that I was expecting to and all went well. I actually got to work on myself a bit (didn't expect to be able to), because she was so good for me. Started to do the jiggy on the way home and we took our time and stopped every step until she quit. I let her walk fast but not trot in place! That's for the birds!!! Didn't go that far but was gone at least an hour and a half.

I am so happy she took care of me today! Maybe she knew I needed it!

Thanks for all your replies. Good to know I am not alone!!!
I love this site!! *insert group hug here*

When I was in the States I went to the barn almost everyday and there was only one day I didn't ride!

Go spend time with your horses :)
I too spend time with mine every day, multiple times because they are right outside my door. But without an indoor arena and the doldrums as HN put it, I well, have no excuse! Shame on me!

On the up side, I got to nicely scold the girls for riding horses that have not been trimmed in a year!! Don't get me started!!! I have to double check the facts but I know its been too long!

Some things just can't be put off too long...I was out in the breezy 25 cold trimming mares this morning. Not exactly a good time.

Well, anyone in my general vicinity is welcome to go riding on the ranch. 400 acres of pasture and trails that need clearing! LOL. I may get to that this year. I really want to head to the beach!
