WHY Do You Ask?

If you aren't going to at least listen?????

E-mail I got this morning:

"I have a horse being EATEN!!!!!

poor horse is COVERED in bumps every morning .. I mean BAD .. never seen anything like that .. her face, neck and body have from sour lemon drops to jaw breaker size bumps .... not sure what is nagging on her at night because if the mosquitos are that bad around here I should be eaten too ...

so ... putting her in the barn is not helping .. fly spray with citronella .. not helping .. apple cider vinegar .. not helping .. got any other ideas???

nobody else has even a bite on them ... "

My reply:

"Fly sheet, neck cover and fly mask? And I used some stuff for Lucky, because he was sooooo allergic to fly bites, to boost his immune system. Took a little while, 2-3 months to build up, but after that it was AWESOME, he never had another bump or hair falling out or any of that kind of reaction.

I used the 1500 mg version and bought the 440 servings sized tub and after doing the loading dose for about a month, I cut back to 1 scoop/day for the rest of his life. It was amazing, no more steroids, no bumps, nada. He had had Dex shots every couple of months for years, since he was about 5, but because he was laminitic he couldn't have that anymore, that's when I found the Immuno DMG.

Here's a link: Immuno DMG Equine

Poor thing! I always felt soooo bad when Luckster got attacked like that."

Here's what comes back:

"interesting .. why would that immuno stuff help?

she already ripped up two fly sheets .. rubs along the wall and since those things are made out of a panty hose .. they are shredded in the morning .. wondering if I can up the vinegar ... she gets a cup a day and that seems to be what I can find googling to give them ..not sure if you can give more. in three months the biters will be gone cuz we will have snow!!! :o) .. it just started .. as in two weeks ago .. maybe I should give the cider a little more time, she doesn't smell "sour" yet"

"never had any luck with the vinegar with Lucky, didn't do a thing, more like, Oh goody, she gave us salad dressing. Don't know why the Immuno stuff works but it did, and since he didn't lump up anymore, can't say if he got bitten or not. Didn't seem bothered anyhow and that was good enough for me. It was a daily thing in his feed, he was on it from about 2000 on til I had him put down.

I don't buy those real thin fly sheets, I buy the Kensington ones and they last for years for me. Skippy is wearing Lucky's old one and it still looks brand new and it's got to be at least 5 years old. Fly masks.....yeah, not so much, they don't last real well around here. I tend to order 25 or so at the end of the year and keep 'em in stock for the next year.

Oh and I forgot to mention, on that Immuno stuff, it took 2 or 3 months to completely eliminate the bumps and lumps, but I started seeing improvement in a week. A friend of mine also has a horse who has site reactions to EVERY vaccine, no matter the manufacturer, and after seeing Lucky, she started her horses on it and the one never has a reaction anymore. She only does it about 1 month before & 1 after the injections and says it works great just like that."

"I had one of those sheets your are talking about but holy mother did those horses sweat under that .."

And it went on and on about why nothing I said would work.

Ok, in the first place, I don't really care if you try what I say I do. It doesn't matter to me, but why ask if you just want to argue? I'm not saying you need to do what I do, I'm just responding to your request for ideas. If you don't like my ideas that's ok with me, but why spend all this time telling me they won't work? Obviously they work for me or I wouldn't do them. I'd be asking you for ideas instead.

Ok, steps away from the Rant Box.....

You can lead a person to knowledge, but you cannot make him think.

I have come a long way, to surrender my shadow to the shadow of my horse.

I've gotten quite terse with this individual a couple of times. To the point where I've actually said, "Look I don't care if you want to let your horse suffer because nobody could possibly know anything you don't. Just quit wasting my time." and her response is, "HUH?", she has no clue how aggravating she is.

And in her defense, she is a very funny, witty, droll, kind and sweet person. Just sometimes makes me C R A Z Y !!!!!

Unfortantely, you can't fix stupid.

That being said, they have this garlic spray that I've found works pretty good.

I wonder if anyone has a recipe to make homeade garlic spray. If it works really good and is cheap and all natural then I guess it would be worth smelling like spaghetti breath lol.
