I just (today!) started EMDR therapy to try and move past PTSD that I've been living with since a riding accident in 2008. It's been made a lot worse by my recent move to the States and at the mite I can't actually get on a horse without having a panic attack.

So many people have asked me why I want to put myself through everything so I can ride again. Why not just give up?

I love horses because they are a part of my soul and I can't give up on that.

I ride because it helps me "get lost and get right with my soul" (yep, a little Rodney Atkins)

Since I'm new to riding everything is fairly hard. So what I love is just not thinking about anything else while I'm riding. Not thinking about work or errands or what I'm going to do with my life or my medical problems. Just to get out in the country and get away from everything. The horse part is pretty awesome, too.

Horses like me, unlike people, haha. :)
I just think horses are amazing. Always something new to learn, I love the challenge, just as much as I love how relaxing it can be. They never get dull. I think it's just a sport that fits my personality. And there aren't many of those, I tell you- like I said, people don't like me... :)

Besides, nothing is quite as relaxing as jumping on your horse bareback and going on a quick, quiet ride. :)

Horses are my happy place. I love the smell of them, the look of them, the sound of them, the spirit of them, the challenge of them, the benefits of learning from them. I have been passionately in love with horses my entire life, as a child if I wasn't being trampled by my pony I was reading horse books or drawing pictures of horses or talking about horses or dreaming about horses. Actually not much has changed!

So I ride for pleasure, I ride for fun, I ride for the challenge, I ride because I love it.

Because I tried without a horse, and I felt empty.

Riding is my release from the world, if I didn't have my horse during my last years of school I don't think I would made it through as well as I did.

My horse is a distraction from the real world, right now in my life it's pretty hetic, when I'm with Buzz nothing matters.
Gives me pleasure in owning him and making him happy :)

Because I love horses. The incredible companionship and bond and the challenge of this sport. I love waking up to the scent of hay and horses. I love taking care of and riding horses. I love the thrill of showing and the possibility of falling. I love everything about it.

Riding is my safe zone even though it might not always be safe. I am comfortable with them. I prefer being around horses then humans or any other animal. They give me my needed therapy mentally and physically :)

I have played every sport including being on the boy teams and nothing gives me a rush and a satisfing feeling like I get with my horses. :)
