WHY?!?!-rant-

Why is it so hard to sell my horse? If its not some ten year old girl who wants to jump on a big pretty pony, its a freakin creep calling my phone wanting to have a 10 minute long conversation about sheath cleaning and other things that I won't mention here, because there are children on this board. -sigh-
I guess thats what I get for answering a restricted number.

Sam, where do you have the horse listed for sale?

If it's someplace like CL, the crazies, tire kickers, and wish buyers can be overwhelming.

If he's posted on a horse sale website you'll slow them down, but won't ever get rid of them altogether.

Plus, if he's listed at a low price, that just seems to draw the nut bags like a moth to a flame.

Welcome to the (NOT!) fun world of horse selling.

Oh I did. FOUR TIMES. I would answer, and then immediately hang up. He would wait ten minutes, and call back again. SO RIDICULOUS.

Speed racer, I have him listed on equinenow.com, dreamhorse.com, and a couple other horsey sites, and yes, craigslist. However, my number is NOT in the craigslist listing, because they don't really have a way to screen who sees it (for example, you'd have to make an account with equinenow to see my number).

Ugh. I should have known he was a creeper from his tone of voice. But it was too early in the morning to think logically.

Yeah, welcome to the world of selling horses... :) I generally try to do most of my communicating via email for that very reason but there are some horse people out there who are terrible with technology. If you really want some help you could post the links to his sale sites and see if anyone on here could give you some advice? Just a thought...

People are ridiculous. Honestly get them back on track "did you have any other questions" and if they ignore you or dont get the point, then hang up. It sounds like you're way to nice.

upnover, I know why he isn't selling....the market is crap. I go onto these sites on pretty much a weekly basis (browsing as well as bumping up his ad) and pretty much the same horses are there. That, and no one wants a thoroughbred who can't jump.

My2geldings, I asked this guy "listen, are you actually INTERESTED in buying this horse?" and he claimed that yes he was, for his girlfriend -eyeroll-. I hung up anyway and got the call backs. I don't know why he was so persistant. Ice is pretty but, come on.

Perverts are always persistent, especially since you were civil to him at the beginning. Blech....

I had a guy like that. This clueless idiot. Tho I didn't have to hang up, I just told him that after hearing what he is looking for, that I knew my horse would not work out for him. That wasn't quite enough to end the conversation but it worked.
If you have to, you just hang up your phone. You don't owe these idiots any respect if they don't answer your question or even attempt to sound like mature horse owners.

Hang up next time.
