    Unhappy Why Saturdays? :(

So yesterday I was having my lesson..which went alright I guess.

My trainer tells me that every saturday the barn is going to be closed for the day. she's going to help her friend paint a house.

So now im upset about this because I can't ride. Its poor planning because saturdays are her normal busy lesson days. So why close the barn for the day and cancel lessons. ::sigh::

I can't go to the barn unless somebody is there. So I am stuck at home.

My poor horse is never going to get on a program with the barn being closed. He's only being ridden once a week.. I have a feeling that this month is going to stink! He's not getting ridden.. I wont be able to move up with him. No wonder why I feel nervous when I ride him sometimes.

Atleast I can watch the pre derby races and the derby itself today.

That sounds like a trainer who really doesn't what to be in the buisness. Saturday is where all barns make the lionshare of their income. I'd be looking for a committed trainer whose hours you can work with.

I can't afford to go to another barn. Way to much money for me. :(

Two things to consider. Either your trainer or who she is helpings has a regular M-F job so the weekend is the only time house painting can happen. Second, painting a house doesn't take all that long unless you're a slow worker so it shouldn't take more than 2-3 weekends. Of course if you want to speed things up and have something to do on Saturdays you can always volunteer to help!

Why don't you just go with someone else?

Does your trainer have to be there, or just someone else?

The entire barn is closed? That's stupid. If it were me, I'd go regardless because horses need exercise and you are PAYING to use the facilities.

Bring someone along. Heck I had the entire barn to myself when I used to work crazy hours so I'd only be available to get to my horse past 10pm till like 3am.

I wouldn't stand for it. Either stick up for yourself or move barns.
