Will you tell me what you think???

Well, I have been making plans for what I want to do for my future...

When I graduate highschool I want to go to you of A and play college basketball and get a Veterinarian's Degree. That means 6 to 8 years. After that I want to breed horses for a living. I want to pick a few breeds and begin breeding, training, and selling. I have been looking at breeds like the Fjord, Belgian, and Quarab...I want your opinion. Do you think this is logical thinking/planning? Would it work this way? Thanks...

Also, I can't decide where to live!!! I want to go where horses are popular but I don't want to be far from my family. I don't know if I want to leave the four corners. Any ideas?

I am only thirteen but I want to plan ahead. Get my priorities straight, I guess. Thanks again...

LIVE, LUAGH AND LEARN!!!, being only 13 you have a whole life time a head of you!!!, take the time to be a teenager, you have four years ( I gather your in 8th grade?) to deside, but if you want to become a vet just make sure that you keep all your grades up! , been there, done that, and going through it with my 13 year old daughter

    Kansas_Twister,
Are you a vet? I've been thinking about doing that or animal husbandry or something. I'm 14 and will be tied to bluegrass music all my life because I'm already pretty hard into it, but not as a life. Being gone 300 days a year is not my thing. I'm going to settle down with the man I love and raise babies (equine and human). But, gotta have a profession. I'm starting as an author. Yes, my book has horses. How could it not? I'll let you guys know when it's done.
As for Blumagic, boy you plan ahead! But that's good. If you don't have dreams, you don't have much. As for breeding, raise what you've always wanted to. If you don't, you'll always regret it. On the Ultimate Horse Board, there was a post about an "equine community" a while back. The sign said whatever the name was and the words, "Drive carefully. This is an equine community". I thought, cool! I think it's in Kentucky or back east somewhere.
Anyway, good luck with your dream!

If you have a dream to become a veterinarian or anything else, I suggest talking to people who do the job. Try to get some hands on experience by volunteering in your local vets office or animal shelter, humane society etc. I always wanted to be a nurse when I was a kid but thought I should check it out first. I worked as an aide in a hospital till I upchucked from some unpleasent procedures. Guess it wasn't for me and I saved myself years of schooling. :P

That's how I found out I wasn't cut out for that job either, when our cat mike got sick 3 years ago my vet worked on him day and night and I was there right by mikes side the whole time, when it came down to a blood transfusion I was right there, there only perfict match for mike was the vet's cat, the vet showd me how to draw blood from his cat and as I was doing it I was listening to the heart rate montior and it flat lined on me!!!! I screamed for the vet who came running in and took one look and started laughing at me!!! The clip had sliped off the cat's paw....thought I had killed his cat....grrrrrrrr, it took 10 years off my life, I do give my animals there shot's but that's about it
