wood chewing

My 2 year old recently spotted a barn mate (not one I own) chewing on wood. She only chew lightly, and apparently only outside in the free access shed, but my 2 year old has discovered its a little fun, and has chewed up a 4ft long 2x4 that is in his stall. Now the family (mother in law & probably sis in law) are complaining & asking what can be done. Of course.... this new fun wood chewing was discovered by him watching my sister in laws horse.....
