Wow - you can't beat that.

My son was invited to a friend's today. As I was dropping him off, I mentioned I had to go to town to pick up feed and some other stuff, so they would need to call my cell to reach me. The friend's mom asked where I got my feed because, as it turns out, her uncle (who, it turns out, only lives four places down the road from our place) runs a feed store in the next town over. We sit between the two towns, but I go to the other one because it is where I work, DD goes to school, etc - so I had never heard of his store.
When I said the location would make it pretty inconvenient to use him for feed, she told me that all I would need to do is call him at the store any time and he would bring my order home with him that night (he does it for a couple of other neighbors of mine - I had no idea).
When I called him to verify all of this (and check prices on what we use) he said since we live so close he'll just bring anything I order right to the house. Then he asked about hay. Turns out he grows/bales hay for his own stock and his store. His prices are about $1-2 a bale less than what I am paying now AND he is willing to sell it to me at the ton price and keep what we don't have room for in his storage barn so that we can pick it up as we need it. I will definitely be going down to look at the hay before I make any commitment on that side of things, but the feed delivery itself makes that part of my life that much less to worry about.

sweet deal lol

If it wasn't for the bad stuff.... it wouldn't make winning so great.

I love it - I called him yesterday, placed my first order and he brought it to my doorstep last night. Not only that, he brought down two bales of hay which he GAVE to me so that I could see what I thought of it. It is not only a dollar less than I pay now, but it is better hay than I have been getting. We talked quite a bit about this and that - and I will be going up this weekend to take a look at his actual store to see what else I might just "have" to have, lol.

that's great- its amazing what small talk between people can bring.

NICE! I actually found a guy that delivers when Peggysue was helping me w/ my feed issues... it is freaking awesome to have feed delivered!

Sometimes it's worth a little more for the convenience and to give the business to a neighbor to help keep him in business, that's great - but when it costs less to do it - that's even better!

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just explaining why I'm right.
