So a couple weeks ago Hondo and I had a fall- my fist riding fall. His part ended up worse then mine because he ended up falling into a small cement ditch- aweful, I know. So he has had the vet come out and check him- no big problems. He only had some scrapes and a slight limp- vet said most likely due to soreness from the fall not any internal things- yay. So he has had two weeks off from riding. I have been walking him daily as per vet recommendation, but no riding. To tell the truth I was kind of nervous about how he would do with saddling up and riding after that traumatic fall. But he did really well. He gave me some trouble allowing the bit to enter his mouth- stubborn horse- but I have a feeling that I may have been doing something wrong I dunno.
We went on a short just under an hour ride at a walk/ trot -in the flat in back of my house and he did really well. Responded as always wtih a good handle and a good stop and back.
I am not feeling ready to take him out by the river yet though. I am considering getting a trainer to go out with me, because I have to admit- I am afraid of a full on spook/ bolt happening again.
I am very happy with my small accomplishment today and had to share with people who would understand :)
I told my non-horsey mom and husband and they were like "big whoop" ? )
