    yearling or no?

I started looking for a colt not long ago, mainly I've looked at ones that have just turned 2. I haven't seen any in person because I haven't sold my old horse yet, but I did see a yearling filly by someone I know. She's 10 months old right now and is going to be a good sized mare. She's friendly and sweet too, very pretty filly. I like her a lot, but I'm not sure if I want to wait that long. But id still have my mare to ride and show. Plus my mom and her boyfriend will still let me run their horses, my moms boyfriend is buying my gelding. While I'm in youth anyway, when my filly is ready to start doing warmups I'll be in the adult class. With a 2 year old both horses would be going by then. But with the yearling I'll have time to focus on my mare. I just will miss having two riable horses. Sorry for the typos, phones hard to type in.

I thinks its a good idea. If you like the filly. I had actually planned on doing the same thing. I wanted to get 1 or 2 yearling event prospects. I would show another season or 2 with my Fjord and by the time I was out of highschool and could spend more time with the prospects they'd be of the age to start real training. I didn't end up doing that because I couldn't afford to get the yearlings I had my sights on, plus I got a mare sent to me for training. I'd say go for it.
