I'm ancient (according to my lovely child) and my horse is 7. I've never considered her age in comparison to mine really, if she gives out before I do, she can retire to a beloved pasture ornament status and there are plenty more horses that could use a good home.

If I could find a sane, sound, reasonably priced horse around 20, I'd snap it up in a heartbeat right now. I've got 2 small kids who could use a been there, done that, world could end and I'd just stand there horse and since our current Pasture Ornament won't be around much longer (she had another mini-stroke, so it's just a matter of time), we'd have the room to retire the new one when needed.

I agree with what a lot of you were saying about getting old- Rainy and I obviously don't have anything to worry about- having just one or two pasture pets to keep me company. :) And no worries about the thread being off topic, I love hearing everyone's thoughts, comments, etc, about age.

I am 30 years older then Paul. He's 6 and I am obviously 36. He will be my first and hopefully only horse if he lives as long as a horse normally can and stays healthy. I figure that we'll just grow old together and take care of eachother.

I have an eight year old and a two year old. I'm almost thirty five. Realistically The two year old should last me through the majority of my riding years. My husbands horse is seven and he is thirty one. I find it easier to not go out and get other horses when I think about how long we have left with these horses. We have to make their lives full and interesting. If I breakdown first they would all make nice driving horses.

I am 26 and my old retired buddy Flash is 27 this year. My mini burro Olen was born the same day and year I was so we are the exact same age. Our Belgian mule Tiny is 24, Flipper is about 20, Denny is 16, Nester is probably about 15, and the rest of them are 8 and younger. The baby of the bunch will be 1 in July so I am 25 years older than him. He should make a good partner for me for a long time.

I am turning 20, and Ice just turned 12 in January. If all goes well, he'll see me to my 30th birthday! I do think about the fact that his sire died suddenly without explanation at 18 though.
