I love to see the trust my mare Spice and I have in each other......I've had her for 7yrs. now and got her at 3yrs. (she had only been ridden 30 days). We've come a long way together and I love her, she may be small but has a big heart and will try almost anything for me......

My horses are the joy in my life.....

I like the way there are so honest with their feelings. You know what they are thinking about by their action , well, most of the time.

I like their ability to just be happy to be together in a calm way , with food for all. It doesn't get any better than that.

There are way too many things. That bond that I have never felt with any other creature, that silent understanding and trust you have between each other is unlike anything else. The idea that you can train such a large and powerful animal to willingly do anything you ask of them when they could so easily overpower you. The training itself, when you are teaching a horse something and that very moment when it seemingly "clicks" and they get it, that is indescribable. I love that they are my escape from everyday stresses, no matter what is getting you down, the moment you see your horse, feel their warmth and look into their deep eyes, nothing else matters. I've had my struggles in life and the single thing that pulled me through was my horse. She's my best friend and part of the family.

Old97fan said it best! And so did Winston Churchill. There's something about the outside of a horse thats good for the inside of a man. I couldn't agree more! My job can be very stressful at times. And it's those times that I appreciate our horses the most. Even if I just go sit in the pasture, they just seem to make everything fine again. When my Sonny comes up and breathes in my face it has such a calming affect on me. My horses have taught me so much about them and about myself. It's hard to put into words what I enjoy most. Such a huge, commanding, yet graceful animal that has for some reason chosen to allow us to be a part of them. Yet, them being prey animals, and us being predators.... and we have been inexplainably bound together for centuries. Who can explain that? But atleast we are smart enough to accept it, and most of the time, make the best of it. I just can't imagine being without my horses. that's the aspect I love the best!
