My first fall: I was riding a 13.2hh jumper pony. We were jumping a 2'6 course, and we were coming up on the biggest jump- the oxer. Right before the jump he stopped; I thought he was just refusing...but THEN he jumped it. Knocked me right out of the saddle

My worst fall: I was riding my old Thoroughbred x Hanoverian cross mare bareback, & forgot to take my spurs off. She promptly took off at a racehorse gallop. I couldn't control her. She wasn't listening to any of my aids, or the 2 trainers desperately trying to stop her. The worst part was...she had those typical TB withers D: Finally, I fell, and she stepped on my ankle. -.-

My first fall was when I was 6 and my parents were leading me around on my pony, he was a devil so he started bucking and I flew off and hit my hand on a big rock, I still remember every detail, hurt so bad!

My worst fall was this past October I was riding my step moms nearly professional barrel horse in a field running him full out to let him stretch his legs.... he tripped, we both faceplanted and rolled.. he ran home, I went to the ER, had a shattered wrist and lacerated kidney, had to be in the ICU trauma unit for two nights... including Halloween night! OUCH, was back on my mare in a week though (:

Hmm first fall- a horse spooked at the horses in the near by paddock and I kinda just slid off(I think then I was riding less than a year)

worst- long time ago when I was still on the ponies one took off after a jump and tried to make a sharp turn but tripped and i came off straight on my head and cracked my helmet. I was unconscious for a few seconds then woke up and thought I was dreaming :p I still remember seeing her feet scrambling to get up and I just thought she was gonna run me over!

First was a slide off a 16.2 Dutch Warmblood who thought it was hilarious to drop his shoulder and watch bareback riders land in the dirt. I *think* I had a couple bloody scrapes..

Worst was when my horse took off at a dead run while I was halfway to being on. Pretty much every last square inch of me was black & blue, my helmet was split open and my right knee was horrifically swollen and painful. Went to the Dr who told me I had a sprained knee, stop whining and keep walking on it. So off I went, 2 weeks later I caved and went back since it wasn't getting an iota better and Dr agreed to an MRI since my whiny self probably had a minor muscle tear. 2 weeks later the Dr calls and says I have "a fracture" and should probably see the Ortho the next week.

Arrive to find I don't have an Ortho appt, I have an appt with a trauma surgeon who tells me I have smashed my tibia and need a small plate and 2 screws he thinks but swelling is so bad the MRI and Xrays aren't clear. So off to surgery the next day where he opens up my knee and find that not only did I smash my tibia, I then wore off 1 1/2" of bone by walking around for 4 weeks on a broken knee. 5hrs of surgery, 2" bone graft, giant plate and something like 6 screws.

it's been 14 weeks since surgery and I am barely walking. Lots of PT and told that it will be another 6-8mo before I am not hobbling or in pain with every step. No riding for another year minimum. UGH!

First: can't remember anymore, but I started with vaulting, so I fell a lot in those years...
Worst: we were out in the mountains, very remote place, my friend was on a borrowed mare and I was on my gelding that I didn't have for very long yet. It was windy, he was nervous, and I was riding wih a backpack. He was throwing a little buck, which wouldn't have been so bad, but my backpack bounced off his back behind the saddle and he freaked. Broke my finger on the fall, and walked for half an hr to catch my horse again :P.
I still rode for three days with my broken hand, and only went to the ER when we got back home.

First fall (that I remember) I was riding an old poke-along QH mare named Pepsi, went to dismount and my foot got stuck in the stirrup and I face-planted a round-bale feeder.

My worst fall was when I came off of my TB a few months ago, I was riding him on a dirt/gravel road, a white bird flew out of a shrub in the ditch, Oliver side-spooked, crowhopped, then turned fast and bolted before I even knew what was happening, and my riding companions horse almost stepped on my head. I tore open my ankle and bruised my tailbone. Then I walked 2 km home because I couldn't mount from the ground lol.
Not very fun.

My first fall was nearly 10 years ago of off a gorgeous chestnut overo gelding. He was one of the most challenging lesson horses. We were riding in the outdoor arena for the first time and when we were cantering around a turn, he spooked and hopped sideways leaving me in the dirt. I walked away with just my feelings hurt..and a couple of bruises!

My worst fall had to be 2 years ago because of a stupid decision on my part. I picked a plastic bag off of the ground in the arena and stuffed it in my boot. I remounted my VERY green 3 year old. I began to grab it out of my boot and he flipped. He bolted, and threw some very hard bucks. I came off and landed on my front side with my shoulder bent in front of me. As soon as I put weight my arm to get up, huge pains ripped up my arm. After a bit of yelling to my neighbors to come and help, I got up and back on the horse.

First fall: I was riding my little shetland pony, and he put his head down to eat grass, and I sort of just, slid off! I was only 2, bare in mind :P

Worst: When I was 10 years old, I had a little pony called daisy, I had had her for about 6 months, and one day, we were doing the same thing as normal, when I decided to go into trot and she did an ENORMOUS buck. I was catapulted a huge distance. But by no means was she finished yet. She came over to me and started to canter over me, back and forth, back and forth. I was very, very lucky that she did not have shoes on or I might not be here today. My mum managed to drag me out from under her. It happened twice more, without the trampling. We then sold her, as she was very, very very dangerous. She was more of a boys pony anyway. We probably should have had her shot, as I'd says she was sick in the head. Last I heard, she was in Portugal, as stolen property... See we got a call from a lady in Portugal asking if the pony was ours. We had had her micro chipped you see! We said no, and if possible to shoot the awful thing.
