My first horse (that we bought for me.) was a Saddlebred Gelding. He was named "Bob" and his show name was Check Exchange. He was a sorrel/chestnut with two back socks and a star-snip ^^;
How we got him- I was taken out of lessons at a nearby stable after they had gotten too expensive; my mom insisted that we should just buy me a horse and she'd teach me the rest (She's ridden since she was 10, she was a 6-year champ). After some frustration ,we finally started looking
We first checked out a morgan mare, who my mom loved more than I did, I guess. But the owner raised her price too high for us to be able to pay, even after we tried her out a few times.
We then found Bob's ad and went and tried him, we came home with him the same day. He was a 2 hour drive and we didn't want to have to drive all the way back out here. The young girl who was probably only a year or two older than me was bawling as we trailered him and took him away. I thought she was over reacting..
We had him fora few months and my mom didn't trust me on him almost at all. She had gone on a few trail rides with him and claimed he did all these bad things on the trails but never took me with her, so I really don't know if it was true. (back in 2007)
Bob was literally like, the best thing ever in my opinion. I taught him tricks, he had dorky little quirks, like dipping his hay in his waterbucket.
After a year of having him my mom suddenly told me one night that she had agreed to trade him for a quarter horse mare. I had no opinion on the matter and within a few weeks my horse was traded out with a smaller, dorky quarter horse mare who I honestly wasn't happy with. Of course, I love her now.
I had been promised updates on Bob and I never had gotten them. I still really do miss this horse, and its been four years. The girl we got him from was not over reacting at all. I still find myself very upset over him being gone, haha.
BUT. That was my first horse story! Haha.
Picture of him
If I can find the pictures of me with him and not my mum I'll scan and post them.
My mare, who he was traded for.
