Kita used to be called Max- I would never call a mare that.

Boon used to be called Rusty- I really don't like that name.

Tana used to be called Angel- Way to common for me.

I think that was all, I can't think right now.

I got my mare at 5 months old, so at that point the owners had not gotten to naming her. As for my boy he was registered already and not a single part of it I liked so I named him something I thought would fit him:)

So essentially other than their papers, I was the only person to have named them but again they were both foals so it's easy.

Maia picked up on hers really quickly. By the time I sold her she knew her name when I called it.

Awesome! :) I guess it just differs from horse to horse on how quickly they pick up on it.

I know my mare knows her name really well. If you go in her field and call her, she will come. Same thing if she is near you even just sleeping and you say her name, she will turn her head and look at you. Cobalt on the other hand, I'm not really sure he comes because you say his name, or because you are talking to him..who knows...

My horses don't care what you call them.

Dumas came to us with the name Dumb aXX. We tried for about 3 weeks to find a better name. Doomas stuck but my hubby is spelling impared so we went with Dumas.

Twister has always been Twister. We also call him:
Twisty
Twisty poo
Twisty poop
****it
and Twizzler
