    Kita used to be called Max- I would never call a mare that.

    Boon used to be called Rusty- I really don't like that name.

    Tana used to be called Angel- Way to common for me.

    I think that was all, I can't think right now.

    I got my mare at 5 months old, so at that point the owners had not gotten to naming her. As for my boy he was registered already and not a single part of it I liked so I named him something I thought would fit him:)

    So essentially other than their papers, I was the only person to have named them but again they were both foals so it's easy.

    Awesome! :) I guess it just differs from horse to horse on how quickly they pick up on it.

    I know my mare knows her name really well. If you go in her field and call her, she will come. Same thing if she is near you even just sleeping and you say her name, she will turn her head and look at you. Cobalt on the other hand, I'm not really sure he comes because you say his name, or because you are talking to him..who knows...

    My horses don't care what you call them. :roll:

    Dumas came to us with the name Dumb aXX. We tried for about 3 weeks to find a better name. Doomas stuck but my hubby is spelling impared so we went with Dumas.

    Twister has always been Twister. We also call him:
    Twisty
    Twisty poo
    Twisty poop
    ****it
    And Twizzler

    Our horse Jake is 28 now and the only previous names I know of his are:
    Porky/Corky (idk which)
    Red
    And then Jake. Lol

    Gizmo has been the same forever, Sunny.. idk, and Montana I think has been the same. :)

    The lady I got Gangsta from was calling him Max...and I got in touch with his owner before that, and she called him Gangsta...and so did his owner before that...

    Jasmine used to be Allie

    Wrangler used to be Major, and before that, Arunj

    Simba used to be Charlie

    Booger used to be Apollo

    Scarlet was always Scarlet

    And Bri used to be Freddy
