Did anyone watch the Breeder's Cup World Championships this past weekend? I did and what and intense weekend it was. I don't know where to start! Friday started off with a jockey fight between Calvin Borel and Javier Castellano in the winner's circle after the BC Marathon. Look at the look on Calvin's face!
Anyways, I was really posting about the racehorse of a century. She's towers above the rest, standing 17.2 hands tall. She's famous for her amazing running style and crooked blaze. Have you figured out who it is yet? If you haven't, It's Zenyatta.
Zenyatta was looking for a repeat of 2009's Breeder's Cup Classic and going for her 20th straight victory. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. After her usually slow break form the gate, Zenyatta trailed the field. She didn't like the dirt in her face and dropped back even more. But as they came around the final turn, Zenyatta kicked into gear. That's when I started screaming my head off, cheering for her and Mike Smith to win. Zenyatta effortless passed horse by horse, trying to catch the leaders. Strides from the wire, Zenyatta caught up with Blame and it was a battle to the finish. Zenyatta kept puring out more heart than I ever seen before. But, the brilliant colt, Blame, won by a head. Zenyatta should have won it, no boubt about that. I think the better horse and true champion lost.
No there's the battle for Horse of the Year. Who should win, Blame or Zenyatta. In my opinion, Zenyatta all the way. She is a mare that has overcome the odds of winning more than once. Even though she lost, she's still the champion in my mind. I have't even covered 1/10 of this mare's success. Please, give me your opinions on the great Queen Z and Blame. Who should win HOY? Please share! Thanks!
