I have mentioned in recent posts that I'm moving to North Carolina from Florida in 6 weeks. I have a pinto that doesnt tie. He doesnt ground tie and sure as heck doesnt cross tie if he realizes it!
My problem is I head up to NC sep 1, and i'm having him shipped up Sep 5th. My friend will be at the barn in FL to help the professional shipper get him in the trailer (for my piece of mind). It is a 12 hr haul. The shipper says she stops every 3 hours to let the horse rest. Is it safe to haul him tied? I assume if there is something stopping him from pulling back by his butt(its a slant load) then he can really feel he's tied at his halter?? I saw a post of here about someones horse who sliced their forehead open from trailer, and it literally freaked me out.
My other question is about electrolytes and shipping. I've seen things on gatorade, smartpak has a whole bunch of powder forms,. How long in advanced do I begin giving it to him and can anyone suggest what to use?
I think once this is all figured out, I'll feel alot better!
