My husband and I live in downtown Washington DC! Not exactly a place to park a horse trailer. Our barn is only 15 miles from our front door, and a fast and easy drive, which has made it possible to have our horse. We need a new vehicle, and have considered getting one large enough to haul a small horse trailer. However, we need to park on city streets, and our neighbors arent going to appreciate us taking up 2 spots! As well, I don't like the idea of parallel parking a massive SUV. Therefore, we have opted for the utility of a Honda Element, because we can haul our tack, boots, dogs, etc, with ease, while still being able to be "city friendly".
Here is the question: is there such a thing as renting a horse trailer? For now, we will hitch rides when we need to with barn-mates. But if one day I really want to take our TB somewhere else, does anyone have a good idea on how to arrange this? Can you rent a truck and trailer, or are there folks that can be hired to van your horse somewhere? Or even a trailer-share situation that anyone knows of?
