11 yr old gelding has high anxiety at shows

this horse has had teeth done been vetted chriropracted has had everything you can possibly check he goes to that show ring to practices and is fine warm up he is fine as soon as shows starts he turns from a well trained western pleasure horse to a fire breathing dragon barrell horse! have tried an everyday feed calming supplement no change feed a day of show supplement no difference he has been to multiply different trainers no luck and I bought him as a show horse not knowing this and now Im stuck with a western pleasure horse I cant show any suggestions on what to do to calm him

Was he ever shown successfully before you got him?

How is he bred?

Are you tense before your class? There is potential that it has nothing to do with your horse, but more or less with yourself and nerves. Even the best of us get nervous before entering a class, and that may transfer to your horse, making him worked up and worried, and as he gets more nervous so do you, and it turns into a nasty cycle.

Try to work on breathing and relaxing. Chances are you're relaxed while warming up, and that's why he's behaving fairly well for you during that time.

EDIT: Did the trainers bring him to shows? I didn't catch that part. If they did and he acted the same way, I'd also be curious if he has ever been shown successfully.
