As far as I know he as been unhandled since he was sold and I understand what you mean about the time line and him being a trustworthy mount. I'd just like him to get as close as possible to that so he can be of use to someone and not just be a seven year old untrained horror. I don't want to completely let go of the fall deadline though. But it won't be a "everything must be done by this time" deadline but more of a "are we improving and can we keep improving" evaluation. You didn't sound harsh at all by the way, I very much appreciate you being honest and sharing your opinion.

This forum will stir up your brain :) In a GOOD way. I haven't thought so much in years about actual training, as I have since becoming semi active again on the forum. There are some awesome smart folks here.

I hope you'll look deep into your past with this horse. Figure out what you did wrong, what he did wrong, where it all went really really wrong.... Then toss that old news out the dang door.
He isn't going to hold the past against you. Don't hold it against him. Make a fresh start. Go back to square one. Build the trust and respect you both deserve
I guarantee he won't be brooding in his stall going "OMG not her again!" LOL
