Aggressive mare

My mare is extremely aggressive toward other horses. She is perfect around people, especially children, but when another horse comes into the arena with her, she will attack them. She lives out with 2 other horses and is perfectly fine with them outside. But bring them into the arena with her and she will attack. Has anyone had experience with this? Any pointers would be helpful.

My mare who is now 10 was agressive with others when I go out into the pasture and so was my appy any time they took after another horse while I was out there I chance them off and yelled NO at them, took awhile but they finally got it and don't do that when I'm when I'm not LOL who knows but I didn't like it when I was in there because the others would scatter and not look where they were going and I didn't want to be run over by them. Once I put a big pile of hay out for them, took a lawn chair and a book, I sat right in the middle of it and every time one of them got pushy or even give an ugly scowl they got a whap from me....I don't have a problem with them going out in the pasture anymore.....
