Remember Vida--I said you were impulsive, not stupid! You gave something a try and had an interesting ride--sounds fine to me. You actually took your headstall with you, right? That was smart in my book. You also didn't panic and got the horse stopped--good job, I'd say.

Thanks Arrow, I feel better and yes I did take my bit and headstall with me. I knew I would be able to stop her or she would get tired and stop herself sooner or later. I've never known a horse to run more than a 1/4 mile before slowing down on their own.

My logic trail actually leads back to those rope halter/bridle things that have the rings on the sides. I was going to get one on Ebay. I thought before I spend the money, I need to see how she goes.
Guess I'll keep my money in my pocket.
On hindsight I wonder if she was getting a sore nose. I've never used a bosal, cavison or nose band on her as part of her bridle. Poor baby, I feel sorry for her too.

I've shown Lizzy in a bosal and I have ridden her in just a lead rope and halter.

Well ...with the reins tied down by the chin knot I wouldnt think it would give much leverage ...but not sure, I wouldnt use it like that myself.....

I tied my regular reins to my rope halter on the nose band, about were reins would sit on a bitted bridle. But yea, overall my makeshift bridle seemed to flimsy to me, lol so I opted for a hackamore
