Red face AQHA Racing (wrong forum?)

Ok, so I tried to decide where to post this and couldn't figure it out so I came back to my old trusty forum. Here goes.

How does a horse qualify for an register of merit (ROM) and AAA in racing (specifically AQHA but likely all racing.)?

How is an ROM or AAA horse rated in comparison to other racehorses?

I know to get an ROM a horse must run at a speed index of 80 or higher... but AAA?

The reason I'm asking is I'm looking at getting an OTT QH as a barrel prospect and he has both an ROM and AAA in racing. I'm trying to become more informed.
