Bad habit

I'm training a Shetland pony for a guy and when I tie him to the trailer he just paws anyways I can stop that because my hobbles won't fit him.

He may not have been trained to be patient when tied.

Tie him to the trailer in the shade. Get a cool drink (for yourself), a comfy outside chair, and a book that takes hours to read. Park yourself far enough away so he can't kick you, but close enough to keep an eye on him. Otherwise, ignore him. It's his JOB to stand tied quietly, and he's now too spoiled to realize it.

Yes, I'm sure a 14 y/o kid is training a Shetland for 'some guy'.

AWW c'mon Speed, I've seen a number of shetlands that I'd let a 14 y/o train for me. Especially a 14 Y/O from Montana... of course I also let dogs train the shetlands too.. only way I can get those stubborn buggers to gallop...lol
