Talking Bit Intro

Were asking around as to which bit, people prefer with first time intro. Baby does well with halter, lead, ground commands. Does not nip ever.

We take the babies from their rope halter work right into a smooth single-jointed snaffle. If the horse is familiar with lateral flexion from the halter, he can relate the action to the smooth snaffle without the "nutcracker effect", because the sides of the bit are being used, vs. pulling straight back action. The horse yields to lateral flexion in the rope halter, then learns to correlate yielding to pressure laterally in the snaffle. From there it is your duty to keep them soft in the snaffle and educate them, vs. bitting up for control.
