    Id go with a gag snaffle bit if you really think that bitting up is your best option. It is your horse after all. But I have to agree with kountry that you need to work on her trail manners primarily. Disrespect is disrespect and should be dealt with instead of attempting to fix with a harsher bit. I say this because the bit itself may cause your horse to become confused or
    Panicked by the different/added pressure. The trail is not the place you want that to happen, especially with your child riding with you.
