Bitless Sidepull?

Ok, I was browsing around on a bunch of horse websites and came across this:
Side Pull Rope Halter - Horse.com

What exactly does it do? Would it be good for a young horse that is already soft on the snaffle to just take a break with maybe once a week? I'm asking because I haven't really seen anything like it before(with the knows on the noseband and such). I've only had experience with bits, a western bosal, and just riding in a halter for fun. Does this, like, combine them?
Just a question! Be prepared for more as I keep browsing, lol.

Why you need a break for the horse which is soft with snaffle? I mean break from (or for) what? IMO this thing is less gentle then snaffle (because of the knots on nose) especially if you need to do a hard stop. My horses would definitely dislike it.

I didn't look at the picture, but lots of horses don't like sidepulls because of the bristly/sharp noseband. Any time I use one I wrap the noseband in vet wrap, that helps.

I generally like them, but I'm in love with my bitless bridle and my sidepull has been retired.

What about just riding around in a halter? That's basically the same thing and cheaper! =)

Thanks for the answers, guys!
And no, I don't have a horse that rides in a snaffle....or even rides well at all. Just wondering what those bitless things do. Haha :)
And Wallaby, its only $10. Halters here are more than that, lol. At least the nylon ones.
:) thanks!
