That's right! My "wild horse" got a halter on!
I have been working with her two days just on roundpen work, letting her know that the only "safe" place from work is with me. Today I introduced the halter, she was terrified of it at first, but soon I had her where I could rub her all over and then sneakily rubbed her with the halter and slid it over her nose and managed to get it on.
After lots of pets and love, I asked her to lead. She reared once, so we took one step at a time, but then she caught on just fine! We walked both directions around the round pen and backed up a little bit, then I let her go. I am SO proud of her!
Here's a pic of the crazy thing:
I'm hoping this can go on my resume should I ever apply for a job working with the BLM mustangs. :P They're never impressed with just "started colts", but I don't even know what to call Bubbles. She isn't a mustang, she's bred to the nines, she was just never touched since she was foaled. I think "wild" or "feral" works for her. What do you guys think?
