    There is absolutely nothing positive to be accomplished by letting a horse buck and play, with or without a saddle, any time you are in his presence -- in other words -- unless he has been turned out completely away from you, you should have him completely under control.

    If you are there, he should be under your control and should be only doing what you are directing him to do. If I had a horse that wanted to buck and play while going around me in a round pen or even a bigger arena, I would either have him on a line and be telling and reinforcing what I wanted him to do or I would be completely out of the pen and no where near him.

    If you are not a positive influence on what a horse is doing, you are a negative one.
