If you sneak around whispering and 'stalking' the horse she's not going to let you catch her. Walk up to her like you would any other horse. When she moves away move with her at a normal walk. When she hide behind another horse move the horse out of the way don.t play hide and seek around it. Catch her at least twice a day every day. The more you catch her without riding her the faster you break her of this behavior. AFTER you catch her give her a little treat or some grain. She knows what you're there for so don't insult her intelligence by trying to sneak up to her whispering.

how many horse is she turned out with? ( do this when you have time to not hurry) it is one or two, can you get them in first, and then take out a bowl of food. just some chaff will do... put it on the ground, about ten feet from you. have a lead rope stuffed in a back pocket or held behind your back, where she wont see it. let her get her head in the feed and then approach her at her withers shoulder area, just give her a scratch, and talk to her; let her relax, and you should be able to slip the rope over her neck and let it dangle down on the far side, keep it unhurried, and keep her relaxed. you should then be able to hold both ends of rope on one hand shorten it so it is snug around her neck, and lead her over to where you have put her head collar, which you can then put on her. or if your head collar buckles on the noseband, you can have it clipped onto the rope, and still doing the same approach, once the rope is around her neck, fasten the neck collar first over her head, and then around her nose. dont approach her from the front, dont give eye contact, and dont follow her around the feild, she knows that she can move faster than you, and it is just a fun game for her to play. while you are waiting for her to come to the bowl, or to you if you have had to take the bowl away, because she is ignoring you, make a big fuss of the other horses, totally ignore her. dont make an issue of it just let her know that to get food and a fuss, she comes to you, so each time have the food closer to you, if she doesnt come to you, just walk away , take the food with you. it might take a few times, but she will get the message. depending on the setup where you keep her, you can also use the feedbowl to lead her into a smaller area, before you let her have the feed. and then go through the procedure. just resign yourself to a few days of taking your time doing this, get the other horses out of the way, and dont make a battle of wills over it- ignore her into doing what you want= she will want to be with you

That was my first thought too! Especially lesson horses. Not ridden consistently (as in some rough riders, some too indecisive, etc).

One of my mares is impossible to catch, so what I've been doing is putting her feed inside the run-in and walking away.. When I come back, she's in the run-in, cornered... I have to keep talking to her to keep her calm because she's been known to panic when I do this to her, but if she tries to bolt I let her, then walk away again... Usually takes a time or two, but I always get her eventually... Just have to be careful she doesn't run me over....
